View From the Wing is the first travel blog I ever read. Nowadays there are hundreds I peruse each week, but View from the Wing one of my favorites. Gary with View from the Wing has always blown me away with his keen ability to clarify a fuzzy airline situation or poetically call out a hotel chain with succinct wording when something needs a sharp eye. With his finger on the pulse of the industry, he doesn’t shy away from telling it like is. He also has a witty sense of humor, and from time to time I find a story or link on his blog that cracks me up.

One of his links earlier this week was to a story by The Daily Mail on ultimate hotel fails. I don’t know about you, but I found some of them hilarious!

Today is Day 12 of Magic of Miles 12 Days of Giveaways, which means it is the last day you can enter to win travel related goodies.

My stack of USPS boxes are stuffed with airline pajamas (still in their protective plastic, of course), iTunes gift cards, Starbucks gift cards, a couple of GoGo 25 use passes, and miscellaneous travel items I’ve received over the year.

  1. I read any number, yours, View from the Wing, OMAAT and many other Boarding Area blogs. Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year filled with good health, good fortune and good times.

  2. This is one of my top travel blogs. I also love “Scott’s Cheap Flights” blog. I love getting different opinions on traveling!

  3. I’ve started just typing in boardingarea.com when I’m putting down my 2 year old. I have an hour of putting a blankie on her over and over and over and love the diversity and quality of all the bloggers!

  4. I subscribe to some travel bloggers, airlines, and hotels on Facebook. Sometimes if they post an article there then I will click through and read it. Not a super reliable source though since Facebook just picks and chooses what they show you.

  5. Flyertalk was my first and then in the last year or so I find myself also checking the Prior2boarding/BoardingArea Blog groups.

  6. I tend to link from the Boarding Area so I see lots of different blogs. I like the new BoardingArea newsletter, Happy Holidays!

  7. My entire family is here for Christmas Eve dinner and they are all excited about reading your blog. Most had never heard of it but I think you will be picking up some new readers tonight.

  8. Although I follow FlyerTalk’s premium class mileage runs religiously, I wish more routings with more information (e.g., connection times, aircraft, etc.) shared on a timely basis…with meetup opportunities for FT and BA readers/followers/

  9. The Flight Deal, in addition to posting good travel deals, also is building a repository of “destination reports” with lots of good ideas for where those flights go.

  10. I think the new weekly BoardingArea newsletter is a great way to review some of the best posts from the dozens of BA bloggers.
