Starwood is out with a great promo which allows you to purchase Starpoints at 35% off through December 29, 2017. There was a similar promo back in June this year, but if you missed out or didn’t get any many Starpoints as you wanted here’s another chance.

You can purchase up to 30,000 Starpoints per calendar year, and your account must have been active for at least 14 days prior to purchasing.

Although you can purchase Starpoints in increments of 500, the 35% discount kicks in on purchases at 5,000 Starpoints and higher when done in a single transaction.

Maxing out the promo, you could purchase 30,000 Starpoints for just $682.50 instead of the standard $1050. That’s a whopping $367.50 saved, and you’d just be spending 2.275 cents per point as opposed to 3.5 cents at their regular points purchase rate.

Rather than simply hoarding the points, they can be redeemed for cash and points redemptions. You could also plump up your balance to stay at some of Starwood’s more aspirational properties.

With holiday travels right around the corner, hotels are often quite a bit pricier than during most other times of the year. Points are also a great way to lower the cost of a long family trip, quick getaway, or even a one night stay somewhere. The timing of this promotion will be just right for many folks.

If you already have plenty of Starpoints set aside for accommodations, keep in mind that Starpoints are excellent for transferring to airline and hotel partners.

Points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to most airline partners, and for every 20,000 points you transfer over you’ll receive a 5,000 point bonus.

So if transferring over 20,000 Starpoints, you’d receive 25,000 miles with your chosen airline partner.

Although I try to maintain a fairly robust Starpoints balance in my account, when these promos come up for a 35% discount I don’t often pass on the opportunity.
