Holiday Inn is teaming up with Otis Spunkmeyer, Scholastic, and fairlife to offer a family friendly “Summer of Smiles”.

Starting this month (June), Holiday Inn will host some fun new on-property events at participating locations.

Here’s a quick look at the planned festivities –

Chocolate Milk Happy Hour

If you think happy hour is just for adults, think again. Participating Holiday Inn hotels will serve up happy (and healthy) hour treats this summer like Delicious Essentials cookies from Otis Spunkmeyer (whose gooey chocolate chips detract from the sneaky parent-approved composition of 51% whole grains). The cookies can be washed down with fairlife chocolate milk, which has 50% more protein and 50% less sugar than regular milk.

From June to August 2017, participating Holiday Inn hotels will host breakfasts featuring everyone’s favorite Scholastic book characters – Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Geronimo Stilton. Kids will be able to enjoy craft activities, meet and take photos with the characters, and take home a frame for their picture as well as a Scholastic book.

Here’s the list of participating properties and dates –

2017 Scholastic Summer Events Schedule:

Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

Scholastic is putting on a special party to celebrate and watch the first total solar eclipse in America in the past 100 years. Guests at the party will get a pair of special eclipse-viewing glasses, and kids (and adults!) will learn about space with the “Magic School Bus Presents: Our Solar System” book.

The party is free for guests staying at the Holiday Inn Nashville-Vandebilt (which also happens to be right along the eclipse totality line that offers a prime view of the eclipse).

Lending Library

Scholastic lending library will be available at some Holiday Inn properties from June through August, where kids can borrow a book to read while staying in the hotel. A cool option for parents on business trips away from home – you can borrow a digital book to read to kids virtually. The hotel will lend parents a stand for tablets/smartphones so the stories can be read hands-free. There is no list of participating hotels yet, but when there are you can use this link to see the update.

Bonus – Kid Ambassador Appearance

Actor Gaten Matarazzo with the endearing smile from the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things” will be Holiday Inn’s Kid Ambassador throughout the summer. Gaten will host one of the in-hotel “Summer of Smiles” events where kids and adults can meet him. No announcement has been made on which location/date, so it might be intended as a surprise.  He’ll also showcase which Holiday Inn properties get the thumbs up from kids.

As the summer goes on, you can find more updates from Holiday Inn’s webpage here.
