Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) has over 375 properties worldwide in their portfolio. On the small side when compared to giants like Marriott and Hilton, they nonetheless have a loyal following and a loyalty program called Leaders Club that offers free nights after a handful of stays.

LHW is very stringent about the criteria for each hotel, and not just any property can join. Each of their hotels and resorts is inspected and voted upon by the company’s Executive Committee prior to being admitted. Restricted to Luxury properties, only a few are chain hotels but most are independent.

Leading Hotels of the World has just added eight new properties to their portfolio.

Here’s a quick look at each, along with uncommon experiences and insider tips curated by the hotel concierge teams as outlined in the press release

Insider tips – “Guests can make the most of the “al fresco†way of life by renting bicycles from the resort’s sports center and discovering Dubrovnik’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or cruising the stunning Elaphite Archipelago. If guests prefer a guided bike tour, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik can arrange specialty sightseeing excursions with a private guide.”

A private island getaway with just one villa consisting of five suites. You can take part in marine conservation or enjoy water sports.

Boasting eight dining options and a kosher dairy bar, you’ll get sweeping views of the skyline and river while enjoying meal or drinks.

Insider tips – “It’s all about dining with a view at the Alvear Icon Hotel & Residences. Start the evening with bold drinks and good music at the Crystal Bar, located on the 32nd floor of the hotel. Follow drinks with dinner at The Grand View restaurant on the 31st floor, an open-kitchen concept design with magnificent city skyline and river views from its sprawling windows.”

Located on the Riviera Maya in Mexico, the property is adults-only and features three pools, a holistic spa, and a cocktail program.

Insider tips – “UNICO 20°87°’s rotating chef restaurant, Cueva Siete, is sure to surprise guests with exciting tastes throughout the year. Cueva Siete’s current partnership with celebrity chef Christian Bravo, a competitor on Top Chef Mexico, showcases a gourmet Mexican menu drawing inspiration from the region and local ingredients.”

While all of these properties look great, I think the Thanda Island looks spectacular. However, with a price tag of around $10,000 a night I don’t think it’ll be the next hotel on my list to visit.

Do any of these hotels catch your eye? Which of these would you like to visit?
