Restoration Hardware is known for their upscale home furnishings and chic hardware, and now they’ve gotten the go-ahead to open a hotel.

The project called the RH Guesthouse has been in the works since 2015 but because the property is located in a protected historic district there have been stringent rules to follow. One of the areas of contention was a proposed glass rooftop windscreen that would have been visible to pedestrians below. With the offending item modified satisfactorily, the commission has finally approved.

The renovated concept hotel will be located at 55 Gansevoort St. in the Meatpacking District of New York City, close to Restoration Hardware’s flagship store. There will be granite sidewalks out front, as well as a wire glass awning.

The 14 guest rooms at the boutique hotel will showcase Restoration Hardware furniture and fixtures.

Although Restoration Hardware does have a loyalty program where you pay an annual fee of $100, the 25% off everything benefits don’t extend to hotel stays (at least not at this time).

I think this is a brilliant move on RH’s part. Anyone who has ever wandered around in the bedroom section and wondered what it would be like to bring everything home from the store can do a test run by booking a stay and experiencing it for the night. IKEA has a similar hotel in Sweden.
