Earn up to $500 in AMEX Gift Cards with IHG

IHG Rewards has a great new promotion out where you can earn a $50 AMEX gift card after a two-night stay between May 19 and July 31, 2016 at one of their participating EVEN properties.

AMEX gift cards are great, and even better is that you’ll receive your gift card right at check-in rather than having to wait for it to be mailed to you.

The only limit to the number of gift cards you can earn has to do with timeframe. Per the T&C you can earn one gift card in every 7 day period of the promotion, so technically you could earn up to 10 for a total of $500 in AMEX gift cards! You must book at least a day in advance.

The main downside of this promotion is that the participating properties are limited to EVEN hotels in:

Manhattan, NY
Brooklyn, NY
Rockville, MD
Norwalk, CT

Note that I use a Macbook and was unable to book through using the promotion on Chrome browser but Safari worked fine. Your results may differ.

There are some blackout dates, and before booking it’d be cautious about inflated prices to cover the cost of the gift card.

Doing a search at the Norwalk CT location I chose the random dates of June 14-16, 2016. The best available rate came back at $199 a night.

When using the “Stay 2” rate, it came back at $210 a night.

Not too bad, with $20 going towards the $50 gift card. If you can close the gap even more at this or another of the properties it comes out an even better deal.

Of course if you are staying on business and the company is paying, this is less of a concern.

For those readers that live close to these hotels and need some stays anyways perhaps for work, this can be a great promotion.
