The new Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is now accepting reservations for arrivals from October 17, 2016, and the hotel is expected to open later this summer.

The 82 story property will be located just one block from the World Trade Center. Interestingly, the lobby will span two floors.

The hotel common areas are being decorated with welcoming muted jewel tones, bronze accents, and modern touches. There will be 185 guest rooms (including 28 suites, some with terraces) and 157 Four Seasons Private Residences.

The guest rooms are being designed in pale whites and neutral colors and are located on the first 24 floors of the building. Room choices start at 400 square feet and top out at the plush 2,400 square foot Royal Suite which takes up half of the 24th floor.

Restaurants onsite include steakhouse CUT, Wolfgang Puck’s first restaurant in Manhattan which will also have a separate entrance. For those staying in, the individual minibars will be stocked with local amenities and room service will be available 24 hours.

The Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown will have a 75 foot heated lap pool and sundeck, fitness center, and spa that features organic lines.

Booking hotels through Amex’s Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) offers a stellar deal but since this property is brand new they aren’t yet in the system. The older Four Seasons Hotel New York is, and the amenity is a $100 food and beverage credit.

For now, the New York Downtown property is offering 20% off bookings made by June 30, 2016 for stays completed by December 30, 2016. You also get early check-in starting at noon, a late check-out time of 3pm, free Internet, and 20% off all treatments in the spa.

Here’s a link to their sale booking page.

Using the sale page, I put in a random stay date of Wednesday October 26, 2016 figuring the rate would be fairly reasonable given that it was mid-week.

The room looked lovely enough, and the bathroom was done in marble.

The rate for the lowest room type (Premier Room) was $799, and after adding room tax, occupancy tax, and yes, even convention center tax the final amount due came to $920.58. For one night. Midweek. Yikes. I know New York is expensive and all, but it just seemed so. much.

The other Four Seasons in New York for that same day priced out at a whopping $1,489 though, so if you are in a position to pay that kind of money the new Downtown property might be worth a look at roughly half the rate.

If that didn’t make you blink an eye and one of the one to five bedroom Private Residences beckons to you, pricing starts at 3.75 million dollars and residents get full access to the hotel facilities.
