Speaking of contests, Embassy Suites by Hilton has their own fun contest going on right now where you could win a free night’s stay at a Embassy Suites property and get featured in a holiday video. Called the Pretty Great Holiday Fail contest, it is a chance to share your holiday mishaps.

The hashtag is #prettygreatfail and the tagline is “The holidays aren’t always perfect, but the memories are always pretty great”.

I clicked over to the page where some folks have already started sharing, expecting to see some really awful-at-the-time-but-funny-later photos and videos. So far most of them seem pretty tame, though a photo of some beautiful cut-out yet burnt cookies and an outdoor snowman without a head gave me a laugh. I certainly have memories of some of those #fail moments, though I don’t have very many photos or videos of them.

Here’s a link to the #prettygreatfail photo gallery.

You can enter your own video or photo in the contest via Twitter or Instagram and using #prettygreatfail.

I couldn’t find the complete rules or Terms & Conditions anywhere, but did see the contest on Facebook as well.

As a consolation to all those who can commiserate, Embassy Suites by Hilton is offering “Pretty Great Family Travel Tips” which you can see by following this link here.

Kimpton’s quarterly secret password is out. Ok, so it isn’t a secret password as much as a social one, but if you whisper the right words at check-in you’ll get a surprise gift from the hotel. Points & Pixie Dust had a really cool experience using the secret social password involving cupcakes, which you can read about by clicking here.

The Kimpton secret social password right now is “Baby, It’s Cold Outsideâ€. The surprise gift varies but can be quite nice, such as free drinks or free parking. The only problem for me is that I don’t always remember to mention the secret password when checking in to a Kimpton.

  1. “Baby, it’s cold outside”…… I cannot imagine myself saying this to the Guy behind the counter…..
On the other hand, if it was an attractive woman, hmmmm

  2. Attaching a string of light to our house and then having the string go out five minutes later seems to be a annual event at our house.

  3. I should have taken video of our love Christmas tree falling down a couple of nights ago. I’m really rethinking getting live trees now!
