Natura Vive in Cuzco, Peru has hanging hotel rooms called Skylodge Adventure Suites. The transparent “luxury capsules” look super cool, but you’ve got to hike up the 1200 foot Via Ferrata or zipline in just to get to them since they’re hanging off the side of a cliff. Those will a fear of heights need not apply. Here’s how you enter the suites, in a screengrab from their website –

The company even offers a “suggested itinerary” on how to get to your hotel room –

Once you get there the relaxing is sweet. At the top of the mountain looking out over Sacred Valley, the suites have four bedrooms, a dining room and a bathroom. Suite lighting is solar powered, the pillows are down filled, you are welcomed with a beer, and a hearty dinner and breakfast are included. There are curtains to maintain privacy from “passing condors”, and the view sleeping under the stars is probably amazing.

The hotel has only been open a year but has been flooded with reservation requests. Prices start at $288, which includes zipline or hike. Here’s a link to their contact page for booking.

After all that, regular hotel rooms on the ground seem a little bland. Would you stay in one of these suites?

  1. Oof, my stomach is dropping just thinking about being in that little perch of a room. 😉 xo from L.A.

    1. It’s easy, Eric. You just have to take a few paper airplanes with you and then watch them fly down. 😉 XO right back atcha. Great to hear from you!

  2. We climbed over those. Meaning this same company offers guided climbs up the side of mountain that take you over the pods then down to where you can zip line down to the base. At first we weren’t sure what we had gotten ourselves into but once we were there it was fine. If you book to stay over night you have the option to climb up one side or hike up the other. The experience of the climb and zip line is amazing!

    1. Wow that’s really cool TonyM. You guys are very brave, scaling that sheer cliff! I bet the views were great too.

      1. The climb up is hard, lots of upper body strength needed but the pay off is something you’ll never forget. Should anyone ever consider going to Machu Picchu I would highly recommend making a day doing the climb.

  3. I suppose now this hotel is going beyond our usual “5 Star” accommodations! That said, I might just be “that guy” who’d call down for room service to bring up an extra pillow. 🙂

    1. Charles Tam, if you make it there you’ve definitely earned an extra pillow. 🙂 Shame you don’t seem to get a lot of time relaxing up in the “bird’s nest” though since by the time you get there you’re probably pooped from all that climbing!
