Things just got a whole lot easier for travelers that prefer to watch Internet television. Marriott just announced that they will be the first hotel chain to officially offer Netflix in guest hotel rooms. This is great news!

Here’s how it works –

If you are already a Netflix subscriber you can log in using the Internet app on the guest room TV. If you are staying for multiple days, you will stay signed in. I’d personally try to remember to log out before checking out, but Marriott says that once your stay ends your info will automatically be wiped from the TV.

If you don’t have an account with Netflix, you can use the Internet app on the guest room TV to subscribe.

Still scratching your head trying to figure out what Netflix is? Basically, it is provider of on-demand Internet streaming media which allows you to watch TV shows or movies. You can watch on your computer, tablet, Wii, PS3 and now on Marriott hotel room TV’s. Instead of paying $24.99 for a movie on the hotel room TV, you may be able to watch it for free (well, included in your Netflix monthly subscription price).

Not sure what movies Netflix offers? Complex.com gives you a look at what they think are the top 100 best movies streaming on Netflix right now.

Marriott already has Netflix available at six properties, and will be rolling it out to 100 by the end of 2015. Almost all Marriott properties will have Netflix added by the end of 2016. Marriott will also be expanding Netflix to its other brands in the future. I also expect that once other hotel chains will be observing carefully and if this is a success they will most likely offer it as well in the future.

Here are the 6 Marriott properties that already have Netflix available –

New York Marriott East Side
San Jose Marriott
Princeton Marriott
Newport Marriott
Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Solana
Bethesda Marriott Suites

Next in line to get Netflix –

Marriott Marquis Washington, DC
San Francisco Marriott Marquis
Atlanta Marriott Marquis
Dayton Marriott
San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino
Anaheim Marriott

I look forward to using this feature the next time I stay at one of the Marriott properties that includes this feature.

What do you think of Marriott adding Netflix?
