Westin Introduces Wellness Escapes
Westin has been watching the growing trend of travelers looking for quick ways to whip the mind and body into shape while enjoying a relaxing change of scenery. Capitalizing on the interest for wellness tourism, Westin is rolling out a new series of well-being getaways. The Escapes retreats will include seminars, panel discussions, fitness classes, healthy cooking classes and workshops.
Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader for Westin said, “The Westin Wellness Escapes series is designed to motivate and educate those seeking to achieve or sustain a healthy lifestyle while still exploring the world.”
The first retreat is kicking off at the Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel April 10-12, 2015. Fitness personality Holly Perkins, Founder of Women’s Strength Nation will lead the Women’s Strength Nation LIVE retreat and is joining the Westin Well-being Council which also has a dietician and a meditation expert.
From the website, here is some info about who this retreat is geared for –
Pricing for the 3 day event starts at $849 for those sharing a room and $1897 for participants preferring their own room. Click here to sign up for the event.

Here’s the schedule for the weekend –
For those who would love to have a few tips/tricks for staying healthy while traveling and cannot attend the kick-off Wellness Escape, Holly Perkins has made 20 minute workout videos that can be easily followed in a hotel room. The videos are available on Westin’s YouTube channel or in room via on-demand for free (currently at 80+ properties in the US). You can also find them by clicking here and scrolling down to mid-page. The videos are broken up into 5-minute segments for when you have limited time.
The second Wellness Escape will be a Triathlon Recovery Retreat, featuring runWESTIN Concierge Chris Heuisler. The event will be held May 16-17, 2015 at the newly opened Westin Jekyll Island.
Right at the finish line of the Jekyll Island Turtle Crawl Triathlon, there will be a private tent available for hotel guests staying the night of May 16, 2015. Those participating in the Recovery Retreat will get seminars, recovery activities and amenities on and off property. For more information about the Wellness Escapes click here.
More Wellness Escapes will be added to the calendar, and after an introductory period in the North American market they’ll expand to other destinations. I like the idea of having a program available for just a short period of time rather than a whole week. Although I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to fly somewhere just for the event, if I was already in town and had some extra time I’d love to give one of these a try. Would you attend a Wellness Escape?
Certainly not at that price point
