I received an email this morning that IHG is offering 5,000 bonus points for a weekend stay. Called the weekend stay bonus, the stay must either have a consecutive Friday and Saturday night, or Saturday and Sunday night.

Here’s a link to register.

Offer code is 6788.

After I registered I went in to my offers to get more information, and it showed that the end date of the promo was March 31, 2015 though the T&C of the promotion say that you have just 90 days to complete the stay and receive the bonus points. I did not see a “register by” date, so I’m figuring that you can register much later if you like but I wanted to do it right away before I forgot.

This promo is easy to do as it doesn’t have a list of excluded properties and just requires two nights. Note that the terms & conditions state that this promotion (most of IHG’s promos) may be a targeted offer so be aware that if you haven’t received an email about this promo you may not be awarded the bonus points even if you are able to register successfully.

Terms & Conditions:

Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register member number in advance to participate in this promotion. Bonus points will be awarded after your next qualifying weekend stay (Friday and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday nights, two consecutive nights total), which must be completed within the next 90 days at any InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites® or Candlewood Suites® hotel worldwide. A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Only one room per member per stay will be awarded the applicable bonus points. Allow 4-6 weeks from stay for bonus points to be posted to your account. IHG® Rewards Club members who have chosen miles as their earning preference will be awarded points. Subject to standard IHG® Rewards Club Membership terms and conditions and earning structure, which can be obtained by visiting www.ihgrewardsclub.com. This exclusive offer is valid for original recipient only. Registration for a targeted offer for which you are not invited to participate is not permitted. Doing so is a program violation and may result in the freezing of your account, the forfeiture of all of your point transfers, rewards, vouchers, or merchandise issued pursuant to point redemptions and any accrued points or miles in your account, as well as cancellation of the account and your future participation in the Program.

Many offers are only available to IHG® Rewards Club members who receive a specific, targeted communication from IHG. Successful registration does not guarantee that you will receive the points or miles offered when the offer requirements are met if you are not eligible per the offer terms and conditions. Six Continents Hotels, Inc.(SCH) and its subsidiaries and affiliates which are InterContinental Hotels Group companies (collectively IHG) reserve the right to cancel any IHG® Rewards Club membership and revoke any and all unredeemed IHG® Rewards Club points for fraud or abuse of any portion of the program per the IHG® Rewards Club membership terms and conditions.

  1. if you’re going to pretend that you’re a competent travel blogger, at the very least, don’t post stuff that will get your readers’ accounts closed by IHG.

just a TINY TINY bit of knowledge of the program, and you’d know ihg are closing accounts for registering using promo codes you were not targeted for. they’ve closed RA accounts even. all points seized. existing reservations on points, cancelled.

how can u possibly be a travel blogger and not know this.

    1. @abby – disparaging comments aside, I am aware that IHG has been closing accounts of folks who have signed up for promotions they are not eligible for. It is disappointing indeed that the program has gone from being generous in terms of awarding bonus points and allowing members to sign up for just about everything, to suddenly closing member accounts when people have signed up for promotions they may not have not been eligible for. That’s why I was careful to include the T&C that states it is a targeted offer, plus mention that it. I have gone back in and put the applicable T&C in bold, and I’ll write a future piece about the recent changes to IHG’s flexibility when it comes to these things. Thank you for your feedback.
