Shangri-La has a new option for using Golden Circle Award points. Called Instant Dining Rewards, points can now be redeemed at any Shangri-La hotel restaurant much easier than before.

The conversion rate is 10 to 1, meaning that it takes 10 Golden Circle Award points to cover each $1.

The maximum Golden Circle Award points that can be used in one transaction is 50,000 which is the equivalent of $5000. Weddings, birthday parties, etc. are all eligible under the new program. Corporate functions are excluded though.

There used to be a $50 minimum required when converting points for dining. It was done online, and then once you got to the hotel you were given a voucher good for the amount you had converted. It was a bit of a pain since the voucher was only good for that day. With their new program the $50 minimum is gone and all you have to do is show them your Gold Crown membership card when you want to pay. I see this as being a definite improvement and even though I usually redeem for nights, I am more likely to use this now than I was before.
