We’re in week 3 of the US Travel Association’s Daily Getaways.

For those not familiar with Daily Getaways, travel deals and packages are offered on a first-come first-served each weekday from April 10, 2017 through May 12, 2017. For a look at previous offers click here.

Today’s deals are for Avis packages –

Avis President’s Club membership for $750 (20 packages available)
Avis one-day car rental for $30 (800 packages available)

The packages go on sale at 1pm EST today.

To purchase the deals today, click the individual links above or follow this link to the calendar for the week of April 24, 2017 and select the package you are interested in.

You can purchase a maximum of 1 of the President’s Club memberships, and maximum of 7 of the one-day car rentals.

Here’s a quick look at the packages –

1. Avis President’s Club membership for $750 – If you purchase this package, within 10 business days Avis will email you the President’s Club application, which must be returned to Avis in order to activate the membership. From the time you return the application it will take up to 10 business days to process. Membership is good for one year from the activation date.

As a President’s Club member, you get two car class upgrades to the best car available when booking an intermediate sized car or above (Signature Series excluded) and guaranteed vehicle availability.

I’m dubious about the package worth as the upgrades aren’t guaranteed, and I doubt I’d ever use the vehicle availability guarantee. Last year Avis Chairman’s Club membership was a Daily Getaway deal for $1,115 which as probably the best status out there arguably was worth the price, but I myself wouldn’t pay $750 for President’s Club.

2. Avis one-day car rental for $30 – if you purchase this deal your certificate will be mailed to you within 10 business days, so if you need a rental in a hurry this is not the way to go. Cars up to the Premium selection are valid, but the certificate cannot be used for a Specialty or Cool type vehicle.

Note that only US residents age 25 or older can be members, and only spouses or life partners (rather than co-workers or family members) are allowed to pick up the vehicle in the member’s name.

This is a great way to snag a good vehicle for a one day rental at a set $30. Sometimes one day rentals are much, much higher especially in some locations and around busy days.

Their T&C says that the car must be returned to the renting location, so it seems that you cannot use the certificates for one-way rentals, which is a deal breaker for me since I usually do one-ways. It’s nice that the expiration of the certificates isn’t until May 15, 2018 so you have a while to use them though. Note that there are blackout periods, but they aren’t listed so it is possible that if you want to use it during a popular holiday it may be excluded. You also don’t get taxes or fees or customer facility charges included, so those are still your responsibility.

While it says they certificates can be used at any participating Avis locations in the U.S., it includes the disclaimer that it “(excludes the New York Metro area), Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.â€

Some readers may find great value in these offers today, but I’ll be passing.
