Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport opened earlier this week.

There are 358 guest rooms at the hotel, starting at 258 square feet for a standard room and maxing out at just over 600 square feet in a suite.

The property is one mile from the airport so it isn’t connected to any terminals like the Hilton London Heathrow that connects to Terminal 4, or the Sofitel that connects to Terminal 5.

Here’s a map from Hyatt’s website showing the proximity of the hotel to Heathrow –

There is a free public bus that runs between the hotel and the airport, and if you park a car onsite the Hyatt Place it costs £12 for 24 hours. This new Hyatt Place is much more conveniently located than the London Heathrow Hayes Hyatt Place. For readers not familiar with the Hayes property, it is 5 miles from Heathrow and transportation to and from the hotel/airport is done via request only for an additional fee.

Aviation geeks will be glad to hear that the Hyatt Place Heathrow Airport offers rooms with views of the runways. There are also garden and airport views.

Onsite hotel dining includes their 24/7 Gallery Market, where you can grab a pre-packaged sandwich or salad. There’s also the Coffee to Cocktails bar, and the Gallery Breakfast with hot and cold items. Their Gallery Cafe features hot items such as Bangers and Mash, Curry of the Day, and Fish and Chips.

Other features include a 24 hour StayFit Gym, and free Wifi. Check-in time is 2pm, with checkout at noon.

Although this hotel is not connected to the airport Terminals, I am glad whenever Hyatt adds another hotel to their footprint. I find airport hotels to be convenient and love when new ones add extra options for travelers.

Today is Day 11 of the 12 Days of Giveaways.

  1. I typically stay at airport hotels when I land late a night at my destination. Why waste time commuting when you can just walk from the plane to the hotel.

  2. We recently stayed at the Rome Airport Hilton Garden Inn. It was a really decent hotel with a nice restaurant for an airport type hotel. They had a great shuttle that got us to the airport on time the next morning. ( We had previously stayed at the Rome Airport Hilton which was actually not as nice as the Hilton Garden Inn, although the Rome Airport Hilton is closer and more connected to the airport.) The Rome Airport Hilton no longer has its own shuttle; it is just the airport shuttle and not convenient and their restaurant was terrible, just fyi.

  3. Use airport hotels when I have an early flight. Otherwise, I prefer to stay in the city I am visiting, even if I arrive late at night.

  4. I wouldn’t really want to stay in one for leisure, but they are great if you are leaving somewhere on a morning flight and don’t want the worry of getting to the airport late because of morning commute traffic.

  5. We usually stay at airport hotels when we have an early flight out at the end of our vacation. We can return the car rental the night before if the hotel is connected to the airport. If not, we just have a short drive to the terminal to return the car in the morning. No worries about traffic.

  6. I use airport hotels rarely, only for very late arrivals / early departures, and only if I’m otherwise staying relatively far.

  7. I like airport hotels only when I have a late flight in and early flight out the next day. Otherwise, I find they are too far away from the actual destination
