Marriott is out with their new summer promotion where you can earn bonus points for stays at participating properties between May 24 and September 5, 2016.

The promotion this summer from Marriott isn’t particularly rewarding, nor complicated, but bonus points are still bonus points. Starting with your second stay you’ll simply earn 2,000 bonus points per stay, up a maximum of 10,000 bonus points.

Click here to be taken to the promotion registration page. Registration must be done by September 5, 2016.

Simultaneously, Marriott is running a sweepstakes, so you’ll also automatically earn a sweepstakes entry starting with your registration and then after each stay. 100 members total will win 100,000 points each. The sweepstakes is only open to residents of the 50 United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. You also have the option to enter the sweepstakes without staying at a Marriott property by mailing in your details on a 3×5 card or calling Marriott Guest Services to register for the offer to get one entry in the Sweepstakes.

Note that stays at Ritz-Carlton properties do count towards the promotion/sweepstakes.

The promotion overall is a bit weak, but I can see business folks benefiting from this most since the bonus points are awarded by stay rather than by night. Those that are staying at a property for a week while on holiday will get the same number of bonus points (2,000) as those who stay just one night.

If you have any Marriott stays coming up by all means, register. Even if you don’t have stays coming up, register. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to book any Marriott stays just to get the bonus points.
