IHG’s Priceless Surprises promotion offers a surprise such as bonus points, free vacations or free nights after your second stay. Not everyone has the time (or the money) to stay three times at a hotel in order to get the bonus. That’s why their alternate entry method for this promotion is brilliant.

You can simply mail in a 3×5 index card, and receive a surprise (which ranges from 500 IHG Rewards points to free nights and trips). The beauty of the contest is that you can do this 94 times, all from the comfort of your couch or dining room table.

The minimum prize you can earn per postcard entry is 500 IHG Rewards points, so if you multiply that by 94 which is the maximum number of times you can enter, you’ll end up with at least 47,000 IHG Rewards points.

What can you do with 47,000 IHG Rewards points?

Here’s one great example: The Crowne Plaza in Key West.

There aren’t a ton of hotels in Key West where you can redeem points, but the Crowne Plaza requires just 45,000 IHG Rewards points for a free night. It’s right on Duval Street, which offers a great jumping off point for exploring Key West.

Deals We Like wrote an easy to follow guide post on how to enter the contest, what to put on the index cards, and even how to purchase your envelopes and index cards inexpensively.

All mail in entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2016 and received by February 22, 2016. That means there is still time!

If you have been on the fence about doing this promotion, you could order the notecards and envelopes or pick them up at a store, fill them out and send, and get your surprises soon. Note that Monday the 15th is President’s Day and there won’t be any mail service that day, so Saturday the 13th of February is the last day you can get your envelopes postmarked.

While it is disappointing that IHG has recently introduced new higher levels of points required for redemption and increased the levels for a bunch of their properties, this is still a phenomenal way to get a whole slew of IHG points (and possibly win one of the bigger prizes too).

Well I made it to 45. I just couldn’t write on any more index cards or envelopes after that.

Does the promotion work for any mastercard or does it have to be issued by mastercard? Does a US Bank mastercard work?

Eric, I believe the promotion works for any mastercard (possibly even a friend’s), and it definitely doesn’t have to be issued by IHG.

Any MC will work. The first six digits of a MC are insufficient to identify a particular person, so you can use someone else’s if need be. You can also use a debit MC, such as tied to a checking account.

Note that there is no U.S. mail service on Monday the 15th, being a federal holiday (President’s Day). So entries in the U.S. mail will need to be postmarked by this Saturday, the 13th.

I printed my return address and the contest address directly on the envelope with a laser printer and all of my entries were accepted. Just a data point if you don’t want to handwrite envelopes.
