Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is offering travelers the opportunity to turn their holi-delays into holi-delights. With Sheraton’s “Delight my Delay” contest you have the chance to win prizes throughout December and early January, via airport kiosks and online.

As the holiday season kicks into high gear, Sheraton’s “Delight my Delay” will be offered at the following airports –

December 21-24, 2015 at New York’s JFK Terminal 7, a Sheraton “Delight my Delay” kiosk will allow delayed travelers to scan their boarding passes. The longer you are delayed, the more chances you have to win. If you win you will also get a duplicate prize to share with a fellow traveler or family member so you can get more “smileage” from the season.

If you find yourself at Dubai International airport between now and January, you can scan your boarding pass at a kiosk similar to the one at JFK. Those with long delays might win a travel care package for yourself and one for a friend too!

If you won’t be at either airport, there is still another way to enter “Sheraton’s Delight my Delays” contest.

The contest is open to residents of the United States, Canada (Quebec excluded), France, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Mexico and Germany.

Here’s how to enter right from your office or home –

1. Follow @sheratonhotels on Twitter

2. Tweet about your travel delay (not just flights but store lines, cab waits, customer service hold time, etc.) using the hashtag #delightdelaysweeps and #promo, and include the @Sheratonhotels handle.

3. Each weekday between now and January 4, 2016, if you are selected as a winner you’ll receive a direct message on Twitter with a delight code to redeem.

4. If you’ve been given a Delight my Delay code, click here to be taken to the promotion page to redeem.

According to the contest T&C, there will be over 250 winners per day. Winners will be randomly selected from all entries received that day (including those received during any weekends prior to that day).

It seems that someone may have missed a step when setting up the T&C, as there is still just an “insert here” placeholder for the maximum number of times you can enter. I’m not 100% sure if you can enter daily though it seems to make sense that you can.

They were perhaps in a bit of a hurry to set up the contest, since there are no actual prizes listed other than “TBD” (to be determined). (See Update below)

Ah, the suspense! The press release  though says that prizes include “travel gear, gadgets and Sheraton resort getaways”. Sounds pretty cool.

To enter Magic of Miles contest for today’s goodie bag, leave a comment on this post about travel delays. Are flight delays the worst or is it the long customer service wait times on the phone?

Today’s contest ends at 9pm PST, and for full contest details click here.

Update: I was contacted by someone authorized to speak about the Sheraton “Delight my Delay” contest, and was given some great news – “Prizes include Sheraton resort vacations, GoPro camera, drones, high-end headphones, portable charging devices, battery extenders for mobile devices, travel amenity kits and more”

Drones? GoPro cameras? Those are some pretty awesome prizes. It just keeps getting better! Good luck to all that enter, and I hope you win some great goodies!

  1. Looks like they finally finished with the rules. Can only enter once…not daily. I already entered 3 times before the rule change, so based on terms and the voiding language, looks like I’m SOL on this one.

“Limit of one (1) Entry per person/email address during the Sweepstakes Period. All entrants must comply with these Official Rules and any registration instructions in order to be eligible. More than the stated number of Sweepstakes Entries from any person will void all Sweepstakes Entries for that person.”

  2. Flight delays are the worst as you get stuck spending the night in Seattle as your delta flight from Alaska is so delayed you miss your connecting flight home in Sea and have to spend the night. They have one stinking flight a day from Juneau. Took me two days to get home!

  3. Depends where the delay is and if onboard or not. A delay onboard a CRJ200 in coach…no thank you. A delay in the Etihad A380 Apartments…please and let it last as long as possible.

  4. Delays are bad because you’re usually stuck in an airport with nothing to do. Being stuck on hold, while annoying, isn’t as bad because you can do other things while you wait for an agent.

  5. I like to travel so flight delays come with the territory. What I do not like though are long phone hold times. I have actually had systems that hang up on you after 45 or more minutes because their system times out. That causes serious frustration!

  6. flight delays are the worst! especially when it’s sunny skies. i’ve been told about mechanical failures to weather. Each time I seek reimbursement or food/hotel voucher, i am told something different so that is why I can’t get compensation. I usually don’t have the energy to fight so they win. I HATE FLIGHT DELAYS
