Las Vegas can be an exciting city, and it is fun to see what kind of great deals you can get.

The Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino was the Las Vegas Hilton not too long ago, and in the the distant past Elvis used to perform there. In fact, he lived in the Penthouse suite while performing some 800 shows that ran until 1976. Here’s a Youtube video with photos from inside his suite –

Even though the Westgate may not retain all the grace and appeal of its former glory days as a Hilton, if you’re looking for a good deal in Vegas here’s one.

Right now, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino is offering a rate of $79…for three nights, plus 2 free drinks, 2 free buffets and $5 in free slot play (if you’re a Players Club member). There is a mandatory $22 per night resort fee that is unfortunately pretty standard with Vegas hotels, and there are blackout dates. Reservations must be made by July 25, 2015.

Checking the calendar and selecting the random dates of September 24-27, 2015 I chose the basic “Premium Room”.

I was also given the option of upgrading to a different room type for a little more per night.

Sure enough, my total came to just $79 (plus daily resort fee, of course).

The lowest rate I could get for those same 3 nights (and many others) when checking a ton of travel websites was hotelsclick.com for $233, and that was room only without the extras (and didn’t include resort fee).

Other sites had the Westgate rate hovering around $100 per night. The calendar of available dates stretches through the 25th of December, so if you want to go but can’t get away just yet there still may be some good dates for you.

FWIW – this hotel is off the “strip” and adjacent to the convention center, but the monorail goes right to the hotel. It is certainly not as glitzy and new as the rest of Vegas but if you are there for sports betting they have a great sports book. I was there last year and just booked again for a “guys weekend”, as long as you are not expecting all the excitement of the newer properties and the clubs, dining options, etc.. they have to offer, it is a good choice.

    – back to lurking now.

B Goode, I stayed there once a few years back and found it to be surprisingly decent. I’d forgotten about the monorail and it sounds perfect for a guys’ trip, especially with the sports betting. Have a fun time, and thanks for reading!

I bought this deal only to check in and find the buffet closed. They offered 2 breakfasts in their greasy spoon cafe Sids. All the manager said they could do nothing. One offered me $50 worth of food at Sids but only after I had eaten elsewhere. No refund, credits, or anything. I spent $70 to eat at other buffets plus I had to drive there. So much for advance planning. I recommend you run away from this property..
