I pulled into the convenient free parking lot right in front of the Hyatt House San Diego/Sorrento Mesa. Walking towards the building I saw a sign that due to renovation the lobby was temporarily located close by. I followed the arrows down a hallway and after a few quick minutes I found it.

There was no one in line for check-in, and so I just went right up to the counter. The host looked up and smiled as I walked up. I was assigned a studio but asked if there was anything larger available.

The host tapped for a few minutes and then smiled. Yes, there was a nice 1 bedroom room available on the 4th floor.

He gave me direction, which were to go out in the courtyard past the pool and take the elevator up to the 4th floor. He invited me to take a look at the snacks and items in their pantry but as I had already had dinner and was ready to sleep I declined.

I did have a glass of the refreshing complimentary pineapple water though.

On the way up to the room, I ran into a few people that were wearing just their swimsuits and said the pool was nice and warm. It looked clean too.

There was a spa too.

441 was situated in a corner, so I had no one on one side of me.

DSC09696

There was a very nice kitchen, though I didn’t use it.

DSC09695

There was also a separate closet in the far side of the room.

Seating area.

I didn’t turn the TV on either.

A separate thermostat in the kitchen/sitting room was turned on low and I turned it off since the air outside was comfortable.

Walking into the bedroom, there were lamps on each bedside table that offered charging outlets. One the wall next to the nightstand was another outlet peeking around the corner.

The bathroom was huge, and designed in a triangle shape. Everything was clean, and there were plenty of towels.

The shower was large and had full length sliding glass doors.

DSC09709

The large shower head was adjustable and a perfect temperature was easy to find.

DSC09708

The toilet sat off by itself in the smallest corner of the triangle.

DSC09706

The bed was super comfortable and the pillows were just the right thickness.

I fell asleep quickly, but woke up about an hour later to some shouting outside. Peeking through the curtain, I saw that the room was just over a parking lot for another business, so some people heading back to their vehicles after a late Friday night were a bit loud. They left soon enough, and I fell back asleep.

In the morning I went down to breakfast, which was quick to find with easy to follow arrows.

DSC09723

It had been set up in a meeting room, and I was unsure for a minute if it was the breakfast for guests or if it was for a conference.

The spread was really nice, and included plenty of fresh fruit

When checking out, I mentioned the noise and the host said that he would recommend an interior courtyard room next time, as there is almost no noise at all in that area. I said I’d keep that in mind for future stays.

This was a really good stay. The location was convenient to where I needed to be. The property and room were spotless, the breakfast was good, and the bed was very comfortable. It was a bit noisy near the room I had, but I think that would be different in an interior courtyard room.

Hyatt Gold Passport Category 2 property. 8,000 points needed for a free night, or 4,000 plus $55.
