Flash Sale: $400 hotelandresort Gift Card for Hilton Properties for $40

Nomorerack has a great flash deal going on right now, for a $400 hotelandresort gift card voucher for Hilton reservations. The deal ends tomorrow November 11, 2014 at 11:59am CST. For those who are unfamiliar with the hotelandresort gift card, you can usually purchase them with a maximum of $100 value for a cost of $65.

This offer from Nomorerack gives you 4x that amount for a $400 value with a cost of $40. Just like with other hotelandresort gift cards, you don’t get to redeem the gift card all at once at a Hilton, nor can you get an entire reservation paid with the gift card. However, it does offer substantial discounts.

To see how good of a deal this flash sale offer is, I did a search on Hilton’s website for the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort for the random date of December 12, 2014.

The best available rate came to $249, and the AAA rate was $237.

Searching hotelandresortcard’s website (where bookings need to be made) for Fort Lauderdale for the same date, I first saw a list of the participating properties.

Clicking on the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort it gave me all of the available room types which matched exactly what was on the Hilton website. I continued through to booking for the lowest room type.

It then told me the amount of discount applied would be $40 of my gift card bringing the room rate down to just $209 which was much cheaper than the other rates I’d just seen on the Hilton website.

I then checked the dates of December 12 and December 13, 2014 together to see if the amount of giftcard applied would double ($40 per night x 2 nights = $80) and it did.

Choosing theWit Chicago for November 28, 2014 on Hilton’s website, the best availabe rate was $199 with a AAA rate of $189.

Using the hotelandresortcard website, the rate of $199 was discounted $35, bringing the total to $164.

I compared several other properties and found that while some discounts were as low as $5 per night, there were actually some really good rates when using the card…IF you don’t mind the fact that you don’t earn Hilton HHonors points during the stay.

Pros of this deal – Offers good savings on most Hilton stays, voucher never expires, reservation can be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to check-in.

Cons of this deal – Hilton HHonors points earning not allowed, voucher can’t be used all at once, some properties only offer a $5 savings, and a fine print note mentions that the amount of tax is not discounted.

Edit: I’m currently out of the country and wanted to purchase this myself, but Nomorerack does not support purchases made while out of the US. I contacted their customer service team and they said that since my IP address is outside of the US even though I was using a US billing address and credit card they were unable to complete the transaction. Disappointing, and something to note for all those readers for outside of the US.

    I checked out a few international stays I am planning and on every one of them, the rates on hotellandresortcard.com were higher than on hilton.com.
    Have you used it successfully abroad?

    You need to dial in through VPN. Or have a trusty somebody with your CC info back at home. If you don’t have either, you’re doing it all wrong.

      No kidding James! I do have someone back at home with cc info, but since it was just a 24 hour deal plus middle of the night back in the US I had hoped customer support would be able to assist.

    a bit unclear… looks like a tremendous deal.

    do you get $400 in balance via their discount card?
    if so, when you get a net discount of $80 for a 2-nt stay at a certain hotel, this would mean it costs you $8 for the discount.

    A $200/nt hotel for 2-nights with $40/nt discount, would be $328 (vs $400), reflecting a discount of 18%

      Al in SoCal, I have no financial interest in Nomorerack or their gift cards. I simply wrote about it because I thought it was a good deal for some properties and wanted readers to know. I actually had wanted to get in on the deal myself, but was out of the country at the time and since Nomorerack doesn’t support purchases made while outside of the US I wasn’t able to buy. Boo.

    This deal is seriously crap. My poor Grandmother bought this deal for me via the no more rack website because I live out k star and my visits can get expensive with hotel stays.
    The rates on the site you have to book everything through is way more expensive than the actual hotel site! Lol…
    Then, factor in that you can’t forget what was paid to get the shoddy ‘discount’ scheme in the first place. There is hardly any real value. I would pay more using this ridiculous ploy PLUS lose loyalty incentives. Are you kidding me?!
    The purchase is absolute garbage. I will see if my Grandma can at least get some kind of credit in place of the grossly misleading purchase she made.
    So bad. Seriously. You really shouldn’t be encouraging people to pursue this. The only value remains with the site hawking this asinine concept, not the consumer.

It sounds like your Grandmother made a thoughtful purchase, and it’s disappointing but good to know that the rates are higher than right on the hotel websites. I didn’t get in on the deal myself but it looked interesting. Sometimes good deals are good, and sometimes they are too good to be true even though it is tough to tell the difference until after the fact. Sounds like in your case it was the latter.     In June, 2015, I purchased a gift card for hotelandresorts.com from restaurant.com to save money on a trip that I was taking 8 of my family on over Christmas. I found that you had to book your hotel room through the hotelandresorts.com website to get a small per night discount at a Hilton property. I booked 2 rooms for 7 nights at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas, California. While the discount was small, because I booked 2 rooms for 7 nights, I did save close to $150 using the gift card that cost me less than $20—a good deal, or so I thought!
    The process was Hotelandresortcard.com charged my credit card and then they in turn booked the hotel rooms using their American Express card. I got my room confirmation from them and double checked with Embassy Suites to make sure I indeed had confirmed room reservations (I had to have them link those rooms to my Hilton account number, though). After spending one night in the hotel, I was alerted that Embassy Suites was charging both rooms to my card that I had given the hotel for incidentals. I went to the front desk and they told me that they had run hotelandresortscard.com’s American Express card 10 times and it was declined each time—-so they were charging me for the rooms that I had already paid hotelandresortcard.com for.
    Hotelandresortcard.com has NO customer service telephone number so the only way I had of contacting them was to go to their website and fill out a form explaining the problem and ask them to contact me ASAP. To this date, THEY NEVER HAVE CONTACTED ME. I went to the hotel manager to see if they had a way to contact hotelandresortcard.com since they claim to be a Hilton business partner. The manager had no idea who they were. I called Hilton’s customer service and got transferred three times to different departments and no one at Hilton could give me any contact information either. Finally, I called restaurant.com’s customer service department to see if they could help me since they were the ones who sold me the gift certificate (which they are still selling on their site.) I finally talked to a rep who said she would put in an “urgent” request to fix this problem.
    On day five at the hotel (after being charged the entire hotel bill on MY credit card), I went to the front desk to see if they could send me an email documenting that hotelandresortscard.com’s credit card had been declined several times so I could dispute the charges on my credit card. For some reason, I asked them to rerun their credit card—-and this time it went through—a miracle.
    Bottom line, THE HASSLE IN USING HOTELANDRESORTCARD.COM IS DEFINITELY NOT WORTH WHAT LITTLE I SAVED AND WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

    Unfortunately our program was victim to credit card fraud in a hotel scheme in Egypt. There was a period where ALL accounts were being put on hold and International credit card fraud authorities were called in. All accounts were thoroughly vetted and adjusted due to the fraud and it has been CORRECTED. Unfortunately some of our customers were caught n the middle of this and we have since sent these customers either a credit to their Hotel and Resort Card or a Restaurant.com e gift card. Either way no body lost money and all discounts were honored.

    With regard to savings the program DOES NOT CURRENTLY OFFER NON-REFUNDBLE RATES. Non refundable rates are less expensive so be careful when doing a comparison.
