Two-bathroom attendants on the day of the wedding (up to eight-hours) — $642
Three-security officers on the day of the wedding (up to eight-hours) — $963

Total cost = 1 Million dollars, excluding tax. That’s a lot of money.

Breaking down those dollars, it looks like the wedding ceremony and dinner alone is around $500,000. Assuming there are 175 guests, that comes to around $2800 per guest.

Using Starpoints, I could knock down the price some by redeeming 30,000 points per night at the W South Beach. It wouldn’t get me a suite, but 240,000 Starpoints for four nights for the bride and four for the groom sure beats $30,000. Plus if redeeming four nights on points you get the 5th one free.

The six-night honeymoon stay in the Royal Estate at St. Regis Bora Bora sounds great all by itself.

The Royal Estate layout includes three bedrooms, two living rooms, chef’s kitchen and dining room, with the private pool in the middle of the pavilion. Checking the random date of October 25, the price came to $13,500 per night. Cash and points isn’t offered at the St Regis Bora Bora and I doubt this is an upgrade that SPG Platinums get. But for a honeymoon, what would you do with all those extra bedrooms and living rooms anyhow?

The 1500 square foot Overwater villas at the St Regis Bora Bora go for $1,375 for the same date. The amount of Starpoints needed is around double that of a typical redemption because the resort has specialty suites only, so instead of 30,000 a night you’d need much more. In this case it’d make sense to just pay for a room instead of redeeming points.

The only question is, would you earn Starpoints if paying for the wedding package? As a Platinum you’d typically earn 3 points per dollar plus an extra point if using SPG’s credit card so you’d receive at least 4 million Starpoints. I contacted the hotel and they confirmed that Starpoints would be awarded.
