there are blackout dates, the reservations are prepaid, and non-refundable/non changeable. Does this Private Sale still offer a good deal? I’d say only if you are firm on your plans. The discounted amount is decent, but I usually prefer to make hotel reservations that can be cancelled without any penalty. Still, especially on the 2-for-1 hotels if you are certain that you’ll be staying at a hotel on dates within the promo, this may be a good opportunity to save.

Specific Terms & Conditions vary depending on property, but here are some general ones that apply to the promotion –

Offer subject to the hotels conditions and availability, and the availability of the offer in the chosen hotel. See the sales conditions for the rate. Depending on the country, these prices may not include taxes, may include VAT only or may include all taxes (VAT and city tax). When prices do not include all taxes, the relevant taxes (VAT and/or city tax) will be stated in the following stages of the reservation process. The price is only guaranteed at the time of reservation.

Last time, when they had this promotion, Accor simply scammed me. I had selected and booked a reasonably nice Accor hotel in Paris, and they simply confirmed me in a different, nearby Accor hotel, which had awful reviews (and in fact was awful) — the Ibis Porte de Bercy. Not expecting this kind of scam, I did not notice the switchup until the day before checkin. Buyer beware.

As a side note, my Accor plat status seems not to have meant squat, as I was spoken to in a way I can only compare to the mythical customer service at the DMV a few decades ago. At this chain, better not to have status at all to avoid the aggravation.

How frustrating V, plus you got walked to a hotel that you wouldn’t have booked yourself at! Thanks for letting readers know that they may want to think twice about staying at the Ibis Porte de Bercy, and that sometimes status just isn’t worth it.

Stayed at a Mercure hotel close to the Sorbone in the 5th arr
Platinum level got me absolutely nothing. The hotel was totally generic but then price was good and location perfect. Will most likely return but keep my expectations in check
