The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has recently gone viral. For those unaware, here are the rules:

Within 24 hours of being challenged, participants must record themselves accepting the challenge and then dump a bucket of ice water over their heads. Then the participants can voice their nominee for the next challenge. Participants are expected to donate $10 to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), and $100 if they pass on the chilly water dump.

As of August 16, 2014 the ALS Association received $11.4 million in donations between July 29 and August 16, compared to $1.7 million during the same time period in 2013.

Celebrities, notable political figures, and now hotels have challenged each other, raising awareness and donating to the cause.

I did a quick search to see what hotels had been challenged, and found a quickly growing spiderweb of properties. It seems that Hyatt especially has been getting in the spirit!

Here are just a few:

Courtyard by Marriott LaGuardia
Providence Marriott Downtown Rhode Island
Grand Hyatt Washington DC
Novotel Times Square
Grand Hyatt New York
Park Hyatt Aviara Resort
Hyatt Regency Jersey City
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines
Hyatt Hill Country
Hyatt Regency San Antonio
Hyatt Huntington Beach
Hyatt Grand Cypress Orlando
Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego
Hyatt Regency Indianapolis
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort
Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center
Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa
Hyatt Regency Chicago & Hyatt Regency Cambridge

Here’s a video of the Grand Hyatt Denver showing their support.

  1. My gripe with these videos is that more often than not people do not include an acknowledgment of what it’s all about: ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease) awareness and support.

When posting your Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS videos, please remember that it is about raising awareness and research funding, so INCLUDE LINKS too! That is all.
