Stepping in off the street, my eyes adjusted from the bright sunlight to the dimmer interior of the Ritz-Carlton Santiago. Elegantly dark wood paneling encircled a gorgeous chandelier which hung over a table full of fresh flowers.

The concierge dashed by to assist a guest, and I made my way to reception.

The check-in hostess was friendly but apologetic; the room was not yet ready. I had booked a Club level room so they suggested I go up and wait in the lounge for a bit until it was time. I was disappointed because I had wanted to freshen up and take a nap, but I took a quick look around the lobby and then headed up to the lounge.

Just off to the side was a sitting room. The hotel is decorated with colors and furniture that are inspired by the fertile lands that produce Chile’s acclaimed wines.

Up in the lounge, there was board of cheeses & dried fruits, with crackers and oils.

Slider sandwiches, crackers, and savory mixes.

DSC00126

There was a basket of potato chips too.

DSC00128

There were lots of casual seating areas around.

I chose a small table by the window.

On the table there was a gorgeous bouquet of flowers as a centerpiece.

I had finished a plate of food and waited around some. The lounge attendant finally came over and said the room was ready. I was given a key and took the elevator up to the 11th floor.

Just inside and to the left of the room was the bathroom. Light colored marble was accented with artwork, and there was one sink with plenty of space on either side.

The amenities were by Asprey, and also some Ritz-Carlton mouthwash.

DSC00053

There was a separate walk in shower, and the water pressure was good.

DSC00055

For the bathtub there was an array of amenities and some small towels.

DSC00054

The bedroom had a large chest and TV facing the bed.

DSC00065

The thermostat worked wonderfully and the air conditioning was quiet.

DSC00070

A padded bench was at the foot of the bed, and the room was decorated in warm tones.

DSC00066

There were assorted snacks on the minibar.

DSC00063

Even the lamp was decorated.

DSC00068

The bed was great. Firm, and had six large pillows to sink into.

The desk in the corner had two chairs. The furniture looked a little worn but everything functioned fine.

DSC00067

Since the room was on the 11th floor, there was a good view of the surrounding city. Just a few steps away from the hotel was the subway, and since I was there during the week I could watch the comings and goings of people in the morning on their way to work.

Breakfast in the Club lounge was quite good. There was a wide array of fresh baked goods.

DSC00041

There were platters of meats and cheeses.

DSC00040

Carafes of juice were nearby, including one that was new for me – Custard apple juice.

DSC00042

There were eggs, yogurts, and a friendly lounge attendant walked around in case there were special requests or questions.

DSC00039

There was a tower of jellies.

This hotel stay was very good. The location was easy to get to, the room was comfortable, and the staff was courteous and helpful. While I was disappointed it took a while for the room to be ready, I would stay here again.
