I checked-in at the Ritz-Carlton Vienna on a beautiful spring day. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, and I was brought to the reception desk to take care of formalities. The hotel is actually comprised of four 19th century palaces blended together, so everywhere you look there are intricate carvings and sumptuous fabrics.

The host checking me in was efficient and quick. Being there for just one night, I had paid for a regular room and didn’t expect anything otherwise. To my surprise, I was given a complimentary upgrade to a Jr Suite!

Through the large doorway I saw a letter from the General Manager and some welcome treats which turned out to be tasty peppermint bark pieces.

Just inside the door was a powder room to the right, and a sitting room on the left in deep colors. Typically I expect Jr Suites to have the sitting room open to the bedroom. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one had a full wall separating the two, with a door on either side of the room connecting them.

There was a large handsome wood desk, with plenty of workspace. A well-placed work lamp on the desk could be turned to focus on the task at hand.

The sitting room color palette was a bit unexciting to me, but everything was sparkling clean and attention to detail had been taken. The pillows were in a very soft fabric, the couch was comfortable, and the TV and speaker hung on the wall so it could be watched from a chair or the couch.

Just to the side was the minibar, which had drinks carefully lined up on display. There were also some snacks in a nearby drawer.

Above the minibar was a coffee maker and tea kettle. Complimentary bottles of water stood next to cups and saucers, and there were plenty of sugar/cream packets.

If going straight when entering the room, you’d find yourself in the very large closet area. There was a tall safe, and a wide bench upon which you could place your luggage.

The bathroom was decorated in dark green, white and obsidian. There was a counter long enough to store lots of toiletries on.

Three shelves held towels, and could be used to store items as well.

The amenities were by both Asprey and Bulgari’s Vert line.

There was a separate full sized tub that had a towel warmer smartly positioned on the wall just above.

The shower had two doors that swung outwards, and the toilet room had a very long counter plus a sink.

The bedroom had a Geneva speaker bedside.

The bedroom had white and deep red tones, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The linens were very soft, and the duvet had very fine feathers inside. There were tiny reading lights well positioned just above each side of the bed.

I went to bed early and put the DND on because I had to leave the hotel very early in the morning, so I am not sure what goodies would have come as part of the turn down service.

This hotel stay was very quick, but it went well except for the air conditioning. Check-in was efficient, service was warm and friendly, and the bed was great. I would stay here again.

Good To Go

+ 59 foot indoor pool with underwater music
+ Room was very quiet
+ Service was both warm and efficient
+ Bed is amazing

Good To Know

- Thermostat didn’t adequately cool the room. I didn’t figure it out until the middle of the night, but was too tired to call down to have someone take a look.
- Windows didn’t open
