Hyatt is celebrating the opening of their Washington DC Hyatt Place hotel this weekend with a promotion for 1,000 Gold Passport points and a free appetizer. Bookings must be made by September 30 for stays through December 31, 2014.

The new hotel has 200 rooms, a 24 hour gallery menu, “Coffee to Cocktails” bar featuring Starbucks coffee, and offers free wifi & breakfast for all guests.

Use promotional code APP1K when making reservations.

Here’s a booking link.

It is located just two blocks from the Noma-Gallaudet U (New York Ave) Metro Stop (Red Line). North of the U.S. Capitol Building, Smithsonian Institute, The White House, and Washington D.C. Convention Center, it is also less than six miles from Georgetown and the National Cathedral.

Testing out this promotion, I entered a sample date of Friday August 15. The rates looked a little high but I figured it was just because not all of the rates have been loaded yet.

Even though none of the rate rules specifically mentioned that the 1,000 points or appetizer was included, the special offer code showed up at the top. I made a reservation, but on my emailed confirmation it did not show the promotional code. I called the Hyatt line and they confirmed that yes, it was in the reservation and that the promotion applied to all rates booked on Hyatt’s website or via the phone.

  1. There are lots of things in Washington that you could use as a point of reference for this hotel, Georgetown or the Cathedral should not be one of them. If you value convenience to those destinations, this hotel is not for you.

    1. Nathaniel, thanks for reading! I agree that Georgetown and the Cathedral are far away from this hotel (six miles as noted in the post). As I haven’t been to the property yet I went off of what was in the press release.
