Ritz Carlton has three targeted summer promotions right now, one of which is their stay twice, earn one free night promotion called “Explore Beyond the Expected”.

If you’ve received the email you can Register, stay twice between July 1 and October 31, 2014, and get one free night certificate good for a Tier 1-3 Ritz-Carlton hotel. Up to two certificates can be earned during the promotion, and registration is available through September 30, 2014.

I didn’t remember receiving the email about this promotion but it’s a great value. I followed the link in someone else’s email to register, and got the following error –

Uh oh. I called in to guest services to see why I wasn’t eligible. They said that while that promotion is the most common it is targeted, and as a silver member my specific offer was to stay 5 paid nights, receive 50,000 points, then stay another 5 nights to earn 50,000 more points.

Since Tier 3 properties generally redeem at 50,000 points, this means that instead of needing two stays, I’d need five nights which could be accomplished in a single stay for the same reward. The award night certificates expire six months after issue, but the points last longer. I tend to stay for just a couple days at a time though, so I asked the rep if my offer could be changed to the “stay twice get one free” promotion. He was happy to oblige.

He mentioned that there was a third summer promotion where the second night in a single stay earned a free certificate good for a night in a Tier 1-3 Ritz Carlton. I was not eligible, and he didn’t know who the targeted group was. Did any of you receive that promotion?

Note that there are some properties excluded from all three promotions – The Ritz-Carlton, Millennia Singapore; Phulay Bay; Dorado Beach; The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club; The Ritz-Carlton Residences; and Partner Hotels.

Fine print on the stay twice get one free promotion: Registration is required. The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® members who register for this promotion by September 30, 2014, will earn one award for a complimentary night at a Tier 1-3 hotel after the completion of two paid stays at participating Ritz-Carlton hotels between July 1 and October 31, 2014, up to a maximum of two complimentary night awards. A stay is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. An earned complimentary night award will be added to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the second qualifying stay. Awards are not transferable and may not be given as a gift. The member receiving this offer has been specifically targeted. Awards will expire six months from date of issuance and other restrictions apply. Only one room per hotel per stay is counted toward earning for this promotion. Promotion excludes The Ritz-Carlton, Millennia Singapore; Phulay Bay; Dorado Beach; The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club®; The Ritz-Carlton Residences®; and Partner Hotels. Members of The Ritz-Carlton Rewards program as of June 4, 2014, and new members who were not previously members of the Marriott Rewards® program are eligible to receive this offer. Offer is non-transferable, subject to availability, does not apply to groups, and cannot be combined with any other offer. All Ritz-Carlton Rewards terms and conditions apply.

  1. In my opinion Ritz Carlton promos should be avoided. They always have a old of exclusions and the key wil. Be being able to use that free night. maybe a one night midweek stay in Atlanta will clear, but usually those sort of things can be a problem. My favorite email from Ritz is some of good promotion and I check every hotel in the US and not one has available dates using the promo I got in the email. others have reported similar.
