Today I received an email from IHG about a change to their Rewards Club. Instead of receiving the standard 2,000 points per InterContinental stay, starting July 1, 2014 you’ll now earn 10 points per dollar or 2 airline miles for every dollar charged to the room at all InterContinental properties worldwide. (the points are a better deal)

Eligible charges include –

– Your nightly room rate
– Food and beverage purchases charged to your room
– Room service
– In-room movies, telephone and laundry services charged to your room

I prefer this new earning structure from the old one, as the points you could earn previously for an InterContinental stay were capped at 2,000 regardless of how much you paid for the reservation.

Here are the full Terms & Conditions.
