Beginning April 15, over 100 IHG properties will require 5000 less points for redemption.

This is a refreshing announcement to hear, as most programs seem to be going in the opposite direction.

In addition, according to their spokesperson, “We will not be making any increases to our Reward Night pricing during 2014.” This takes away the fear that they’ll drop the redemption amount for some properties and then increase the rest.

The full list has not yet been released, but here are some of the property redemption changes –

InterContinental Hotel Shanghai-Puxi, China — 35,000 to 30,000
Crowne Plaza Geneva, Switzerland – 35,000 to 30,000
Hotel Indigo Fort Myers Downtown River District, Florida, U.S. – 30,000 to 25,000
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort, Phuket, Thailand – 20,000 to 15,000
