Hotel Review: Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown Hotel

My husband and I wanted to visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum and were planning on being in town for a few days, so we decided to stay at the Sheraton downtown. It had recently undergone a 3.9M renovation, and we were curious to see how it looked. Next to the Cox Convention Center and a few blocks from Bricktown, this hotel is conveniently located near a lot of restaurants, museums, and shopping. Pulling into valet, I was told it was just $12 for overnight guests. Great! The lobby was spacious and quiet, since we were there on a weekday.

The check-in agent pointed out the Link@Sheraton business center.

I had booked one paid night, and the next two nights using points. The property has 396 rooms, of which 12 are suites. Maybe it was my SPG Plat status, maybe low occupancy, maybe my husband’s charm, but we were lucky enough to get upgraded to the Presidential suite for the first night! What a fun and unexpected surprise.

When entering the room, directly to the left was a small half bathroom. To the right was a a closet, wet bar, and refrigerator with a view into the living room.

There was also a microwave, and a coffee machine with Starbucks coffee.

The living room had deep, rich, colors, with a comfortable couch, leather chairs, and a formal dining table that seated six. The renovation for all guest rooms included new carpet, walls, bedding, and furniture. Even though it had been completed recently, the room didn’t smell like paint or new carpet, just fresh. They must have done a good job airing out the rooms afterwards.

There was a new HD 32″ flat screen TV, a coffee table, some large decorative vases, and large windows ran the full length of the wall. Lots of lighting helped brighten things up and the set-up of the room made it easy to feel at home.

A desk and cordless phone completed the room.

The bedroom featured the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed.

The Bose alarm clock is the newest version, and the leather sitting chair was a nice touch.

There was a flat screen TV opposite the bed, and a decent sized wardrobe.

Rounding the corner of the bedroom was a large master bathroom. The layout of the suite was in a “U” shape so that the living room and bedroom were on one side, and the bathroom was on the other.

Extra towels were stacked up to the tune of twelve, and there was an ample double sink with mirrors everywhere.

There was even a separate vanity area with seating and drawers.

There were two full sets of Sheraton’s Shine amenities, and loofahs, cotton balls, and emery boards were provided as well.

Continuing through the next door, I could see the bathtub.

The tub had whirlpool jets, and a separate shower and toilet stood nearby. The neutral colors in this room were calming, opposed to the black & white palette in the other part of the bathroom. There were more amenities in the shower, and another set had thoughtfully been laid out on the tub as well.

The views from the room were great, too.

After being impressed by the room, I called down to front desk to see if it was possible to stay in the same room for the second reservation on points. Good news, it was!

This hotel turned out to be a nice surprise. Since the renovations on the rooms have all been completed, there was no construction noise. The location was a good jumping off point for the things we wanted to do in town. Before staying here I had read some reports of elevator noise, but didn’t experience any in our room. The staff was friendly and helpful with directions, and we would stay here again if in the area.

Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown Hotel
